Teeth Whitening FAQ
How does professional teeth whitening work? Teeth discoloration usually happens from the inside out due to food, drinks, and daily life. Our professional-grade whitening gel uses hydrogen peroxide to gently open the pores of the teeth and lift stains from within. We use a professional LED light to accelerate and enhance the process for a longer-lasting, brighter finish.
How white will my results be? Most clients see an immediate improvement of 2 to 8 shades lighter after just a single session. Exact results depend on your natural enamel and the type of staining present, but our goal is always a bright, clean, natural-looking smile—never an artificial neon look.
Does it hurt? Most clients experience little to no discomfort. If you have naturally sensitive teeth, you might notice some mild, temporary sensitivity during or after your appointment, but it typically resolves completely within 24 to 48 hours.
Is teeth whitening safe for my enamel? Yes. When done professionally, the whitening process temporarily opens the tooth pores to lift stains without damaging or compromising the integrity of your healthy tooth enamel.
How should I prep for my session? Brush and floss gently right before you come in. If you are prone to tooth sensitivity, we recommend using a desensitizing toothpaste (like Sensodyne Rapid Relief or Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief) for about a week leading up to your appointment.
What is the post-treatment care? For the first 24 to 48 hours, try to avoid dark-colored foods and drinks (like coffee, red wine, berries, and dark sauces). If you do indulge in a coffee or tea, use a straw so it bypasses your teeth while your enamel settles. You can also continue using your desensitizing toothpaste for a couple of days post-treatment if needed.
How long does it last? Results typically last anywhere from several months to a couple of years, depending on your lifestyle, oral hygiene, and diet. Occasional touch-up treatments and using a home maintenance pen help keep your smile bright long-term.
Can you whiten crowns, veneers, or fillings? Whitening gel only works on natural tooth material. Existing crowns, veneers, bonding, and fillings won't change color during the session. If you have dental work on your front teeth, we can chat about how to best match your natural enamel to your existing restorations.
Who is a good candidate? Most adults with healthy teeth and gums are great candidates. However, we do not perform teeth whitening on clients who are under 16, pregnant, or currently wearing braces/active orthodontic appliances.
I have a big event coming up, When should I book? If you're prepping for a wedding, trip, or event, we recommend coming in at least one week prior. This gives your enamel time to settle, your pores to close, and your color to completely even out.
